Relationship Therapy and Pre-Commitment Counselling

Relationship therapy (couples counselling) creates space to strengthen your connection, work through difficulties, and feel confident about future commitments.

What is
Relationship
Therapy?

Relationship therapy, sometimes known as couples therapy, couples counselling, or marriage counselling, provides a supportive space to talk through the difficulties you’re facing in your relationship. Together, we explore how problems may have developed and build skills to help you address these issues as a team.

Although sessions usually take place with both partners together, I will typically invite each of you to have at least one individual session. This gives you the opportunity to talk about any concerns that may feel harder to express in front of your partner.

Relationship therapy does not involve the therapist taking sides or telling you what to do. Instead, it offers a safe and neutral space where both partners can be heard, understood, and supported as you work toward meaningful change and a healthier connection.

Relationship therapy can help to address a number of problems within an intimate relationship, including:

  • Problems with trust
  • Communication difficulties
  • Affairs
  • Financial issues
  • Family conflicts
  • Life changes
  • Different parenting styles
  • Different values and goals

Pre-commitment relationship counselling

Pre-commitment counselling offers a supportive space to strengthen your relationship before taking a big step, whether that’s marriage, moving in together, buying a home, or starting a family. It helps you talk openly about the experiences, expectations, and values each of you brings, so you can build a solid foundation for the future.

Common topics include:

  • Parenting and family plans
  • Finances
  • Relationships with family and friends
  • Cultural or religious beliefs
  • Emotional and physical intimacy

You’ll also develop practical skills in:

  • Clear and respectful communication
  • Healthy conflict resolution
  • Understanding and navigating differences
  • Planning shared goals and responsibilities
