Sex Addiction Therapy

Sex and pornography addiction is typically characterised by compulsive sexual thoughts and acts.

What is
Sex Addiction Therapy?

Sex addiction, often described as sexually compulsive behaviour, can affect many areas of life, including relationships, work, finances, and emotional or physical intimacy. In some cases, these behaviours may also lead to legal difficulties.
With the long-term availability of online pornography, many people begin using it at a young age and may only realise it has become a problem when it starts to affect real-life sexual experiences or their ability to connect with a partner.

Treatment follows a biopsychosocial approach, looking at the biological aspects of the behaviour, the emotional and relational influences, and the wider social and cultural context, including factors such as sexual orientation, race, faith, and communities like kink, poly, or open relationships.

Many clients seek support to change compulsive behaviours and understand what may be driving them. For some, these patterns stem from past trauma or early attachment difficulties; for others, they may develop simply through the ease and availability of online pornography.

I take an integrated, goal-focused approach, tailoring therapy to each individual client. Depending on your needs, this may include CBT, EMDR, schema therapy, or compassion-focused therapy, or a combination of these approaches.
